Making History at a Historic Boarding School

Alixe Callen has the resume and experience to be the new Head of School at St. George Boarding School in Rhode Island. She has teenage boys of her own and was a Dorm Parent along with her husband prior to being appointed to Head of School. She has a Bachelor and Master’s degree from Brown University and a Masters and Ph.D. from Harvard University. At Harvard, she concentrated on secondary-school design, school reform, and school leadership. Starting July 1st, 2017 she will be the Head of School at St. George’s Boarding School.

Being an educator is a demanding job. It takes a special person to be able to lead those educators to success and happiness so that the educators can do the same for their students. Alixe Calen not only has the qualifications that make her a leader but the intricate understanding of how a school works. She served as Assistant Principal of Needham High School from 2004-2008.

St. George is a Boarding School that is a college preparatory program that serves grades 9-12. Boarding schools offer a unique experience for students to become immersed in their education, both socially and academically. Excellent leadership is critical to the success of students at public and private schools. At boarding schools, this leadership is even more crucial, as the students spend more of their daily lives there. Alixe Cullen is an excellent choice as Head of School at St. George’s Boarding School because she has extensive experience in public and private schools. She will be taking over from the previous Head of School, Eric Peterson. Because of this, she understands the needs of the students that she serves. Total, she has 13 years of leadership experience.

She is setting history at St. George’s Boarding school in 2017 as being the first female to lead the school. Her dedication to various aspects of the school system sets her above other candidates. Surely, she will inspire her students to achieve success in college and their years beyond.
